Before you start
- • A paid Claude plan with Claude for Google Workspace.
- • The Apps Script API switched on at script.google.com/home/usersettings.
- • On Team or Enterprise, your Claude Owner may need to add BrilSheet first.
How to set up
1.Install the plugin
Click “Get BrilSheet in Claude” and install the BrilSheet plugin from Claude's directory.
2.Sign in with Google
On the plugin's Connectors tab, click Connect and sign in with Google.
The first time, you paste your sheet's Apps Script address once. BrilSheet remembers it in
brilsheet.json, a private file in its own app data folder in your Google Drive that only BrilSheet can read, so you never paste it again for that sheet.The file remembers which script belongs to which spreadsheet, whether the welcome was shown and whether you added or skipped the BrilSheet tab. BrilSheet cannot see your other Drive files.
3.Ask Claude
In your sheet, open Extensions > Claude > Open Claude and ask. You never need to mention BrilSheet.
Your first build
First time only. Once per sheet.
1.Open Apps Script
In your sheet, click Extensions > Apps Script. If it says Untitled project, click the name, type a new one and click Rename.
2.Copy the address
Copy the address from that tab. It starts with script.google.com.
3.Paste it in Claude
Paste the address in the Claude chat. Claude links it and carries on.
Prompts to try
Add a menu that emails me this sheet every Monday.
Add a button that clears the Orders tab and keeps the headers.
Send me an email when any value in column D goes below 10.
Import yesterday's rows from my other sheet every morning at 7.
My script stopped working. Find the problem and fix it.
Undo and backups
- • Say “undo that” and Claude restores the last backup.
- • Every save is a named version in Extensions > Apps Script > Project history.
- • The Apps Script Log in the chat shows what changed.
